Hey!

i love the ideas! another trick that i use to help the process a bit more, is that one day in the week i improvise a bunch of different melodies for a few hours and record around 15 minutes of the best stuff that came out... then the next day at work, i listen to it in a loop without paying too much attention..

When the day ends, i go home biking for around 40 minutes and during that time i often have the catchiest part stuck in my mind and sometimes just brand new stuff comes out!

[...] Put Yourself in Songwriting Mode Orlando at SongwriterAdvisor has a great two-part series on getting in “songwriting mode”. He mentions Sting’s own account of how he came up with the song “Every Breath You Take” in about 30 minutes. He continues, “So how does this happen? It certainly doesn’t happen by accident to just anybody who has no interest in writing a song. It happens to songwriters who put themselves in what I call “Songwriting Mode,” which is the ability to train your brain to subconsciously create any [number] of [conditions]. Part 1 | Part 2 [...]
